Finding Home
Richard Rowan, a true lover of the natural world and passionate about capturing as much beauty in every way he finds it, returns with a new collection of beautiful landscapes. Creating a feel of wanderlust, the collection is full of calming and inspiring landscape pieces.
'Finding Home' is based on the Scottish Highlands, especially in the beauty surrounding the Isle of Skye and Dornie. Given the artist’s Scottish ties, Rowan felt inspired after a family trip to Scotland which later resulted in the creation of this beautiful intricate piece.
For over 15 years, Richard Rowan has trailblazed the medium of oil painting on glass to create artworks of incredible and atmospheric depth due to the being at the forefront of his very complex field. In this piece Richard has tackled for the first-time colour foreground, this is a momentous step which adds a new layer of artistry.
Being at the forefront of his technique, Richard Rowan’s original artworks are detailed with his characteristic photographic realism, illustrating the power of nature. The landscapes are reverse painted in layers on to the glass, which allows him to achieve the microscopic detail and preserve the vibrant colours. On each of Richard's original artworks is a transparent viewing panel to allow collectors to see the process behind their creation.
The method of underpainting from foreground to background, building layers in reverse, allowing each layer to dry before adding the next one leaves small margin for error and truly demonstrates Rowan’s beautiful, detailed artistry.
Richard was listening to Faded Fluorescence by Lights & Motion from the album Reanimation when working on this artwork.
This piece can also be purchased in a framed set of two alongside Particles of Light.
