Amber Cove
Paul is admired by our collectors for his tranquil landscapes, which bring the outdoors inside. His countryside scenes are perfect for any living space and intertwine everyday family experiences with a technique influenced by airbrushing, animation and 3D modelling software.
Corfield’s creative journey for each piece starts with a pencil sketch that allows him to experiment with bouncing light into shadows. He then transfers the coloured pencil sketch onto a canvas, using the grid method to ensure the composition is exactly right, before beginning an intensive painting process.
He uses a careful layering technique, with each painting including five or six layers of paint. He then adds tiny dots to the trees and flowers to give them life. This can be a therapeutic but challenging process, as it’s all expressed through a vision in his imagination. Corfield doesn’t paint outside or observe his surroundings in real time, he uses his powerful mental visualisation to recall a scene.
This artwork is also available in a framed set. Find out more about this collection here or alternatively shop more Paul Corfield's art here.
