To celebrate ten years of Nic Joly's miniature masterpieces at Castle Fine Art, the artist has remastered a selection of his most popular works. As a visual testament to the evolving mastery of his remarkable craft, The Next Chapter 2024 highlights Joly’s creative journey, blending the most popular artworks among collection with his personal favourites.

Nic’s latest artworks showcase his signature humour and attention to the intricacies of human experience, depicting detailed scenes of life’s joys, struggles and relationships.

Originally released in 2015, ‘Why Not?’ depicts carefully crafted figures interacting playfully with the bold words “Eat, Drink and”, bringing the party spirit to life. Nic told us: "It is about seizing the moment and living life to the fill. Live in the now and enjoy yourself for no other reason than - Why Not?”

Through tiny human figures in unexpected contexts, each piece invites viewers to reflect on love, resilience, and the complexities of daily life, offering a mix of playful charm and social commentary. With his unique approach, using mixed materials such as wire, paper and found objects, Nic has pushed the boundaries of miniature art.

Each component goes through a complex conception through a meticulous process which can involve carving, casting, moulding, sanding and hand-painting, before the painstaking construction of the artwork begins.
