Published in 1963, “Amazing Spider-Man #86” is a Marvel Superhero unique edition of the issue’s cover, hand-signed by John Romita Sr. Spider-Man first appeared in Marvel comic books in August 1962, in Amazing Fantasy #15 in the Silver Age of Comic Books.

Created by Stan Lee, Peter Parker, a shy teenager that gains spider-like abilities after being bitten by a genetically modified spider which he uses to fight his enemies and injustice. Since the initial appearance, Marvel has featured the superhero in several comic book series, the longest being The Amazing Spider-Man, and a series of movies as well.

American comic book artist, the late great John Romita Sr., is known not only for his realistic, naturalist and fluid art style but also for his work on Marvel Comics including The Amazing Spider-Man and for co-creating iconic characters including Wolverine, Mary Jane Watson, and Luke Cage. Having heavily influenced the iconic look of Marvel comics we adore today, Romita was later promoted as Marvel’s art director and later inducted in the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Inkwell Awards Joe Sinnott Hall of Fame in 2020.
